We spent the whole July sailing at the Baltic Sea and did our longest sailing trip so far.
We sailed for more than 800 miles. The trip started from Helsinki to Lähteelä. From there we sailed over to Lohusalu in Estonia, then through Estonia over to Gotland. We spent a few days in the Swedes holiday paradise and then we sailed over to Liepaja, in Latvia. From Liepaja we went up to Ventspils and then again through Estonia back to Helsinki.
We didn’t tailwind during the whole four weeks. Instead mostly calm or headwind. But the boat was working fine and our biggest loss was the water tank. We couldn’t find a new on the way, but we solved the problem using canisters.
The trip was immemorial. At the same time I felt as if it was the beginning of a much bigger adventure. A first taste of what long distance sailing will be and what it will be like to live in a boat.
Jussi will write more on the sailing part and the marinas.
