After countless hours of work, the new engine is running nicely! At the starting point my knowledge on diesel engines was rather limited and I can’t claim to be an expert now either, but hey, the engine and the saildrive changed by my own hands! Must admit that it did fell awesome when the engine started from first push of the button yesterday! Yesssss!!!! 🙌💪😊

Kieltämättä pääsi sellainen spontaani tuuletus kun uusi, omin pikku kätösin vaihdettu kone hörähti eilen käyntiin ekalla (!) napin painalluksella!! Yessssss!!! 🫣🙌💪🥳😎

One of those do what I say, not what I do things… Yesterday evening at the boat, last thing before heading home. I might as well toss the new saildrive up the ladder while it’s in the trunk anyways? Around 35kg and the big box was rather heavy compared to the body weight, on the ladder! Getting up backwards and after three steps you realize that this was even more dumbass idea than I thought! Going down was not an option as I would have dropped the saildrive and landed on my face… so, all or nothing! Hope the ladder don’t fall! Luckily after some very long lasting seconds I was high enough to grab the rail. And finally managed to lift the corner of the box up on the side. Easy peasy after that. But, boy was it a close one! Took a while for the pulse to calm down… so, don’t try that at home, leave it to the idiots.

Jos tulee joskus ajatus että samallahan mä koppaan ton vetolaitelaatikon kainaloon kipasen tikkaat ylös, niin suosittelen miettimään vielä toisen kerran. Loppu hyvin, kaikki hyvin onneksi. 😅

Bit by bit the project is going forward. After a few oil changes it was time to make some room to disassemble the engine. Things progress slowly as there’s also the basic fall stuff: sails off, mast and ropes off, gear to the storage locker etc… but finally quite a few parts are off and we’re getting closer to the moment when we see what all is gone…

Vene alkaa olla perushyrskynmyrskyn. Homma edistyy pikku hiljaa muiden syyshommien lomassa… kohta aletaan näkemään mikä kaikki on entistä…
